Birch

The birch series began as a single work in my first solo show. I eventually shipped it to a gallery in Aspen and subsequently the image of distant hills glimpsed through a thicket of trees has nearly become my trademark. The birch and aspen series were my first successful landscape works since I left the medium of stained glass six years earlier. They now serve as a benchmark, or bellwether for my studio work. Like old friends, I return to the simple graphics and strong colors of these landscapes to mark my progress and feel based in my art form.
