JoAnn Thomas Endowed Scholarship Fund

When JoAnn Moran Thomas died in September 2006, her peers, students and friends created the JoAnn Thomas Endowed Scholarship fund to help design students at Portland Community College achieve their goals.

JoAnn was an artist, designer, gardener, traveler, amateur anthropologist, and a great friend. But above all she was a teacher — a teacher who loved her students, and it showed. She not only taught design, she guided students on trips, taught them to think, be creative and to find their own special talents. Many of her students became her personal friends. She was well loved for her passion, elegance, grace, energy and compassion.

The proposed scholarship endowment is $25,000, but we have not yet reached that goal.

Jo's Funding Elephant

JoAnn had a passion for purple and for elephants, so we have made a purple elephant the symbol for for her sholarship fund. Let's turn Jo's Elephant completely purple! We have enough funding for 'wings' (think Dumbo), now let's give this fund some legs!
