Tahoe Pines, Opus 155, 2000
Three glass panels, various sizes. Frame, 48 by 106 inches.
After spending time in Lake Tahoe, California with his friends, Roger was completely taken with the contrasts of sky and water. He had been playing with the idea of pine as a subject since beginning the aspen series a few years earlier. It took quite a while to get the right materials together to generate the look he envisioned, but finally, with the help of a wonderful little tool from Germany called the Zag-Zag, he was able to render the pine cones as he wanted. He is especially pleased with the mossy highlights on the branches and the positive and negative pine cones.
